17.02.2012

The experts of APK-Inform Agency continue monitoring the situation in the basins of the Azov-Black Sea region. Thus, according to preliminary forecasts of the official sources, during the period since 17.02.12 till 18.02.12 19 vessels will come from the Sea of Azov to the Black Sea accompanied by the caravans.

As of the current moment, there are 68 vessels in the southern part of the Kerch Strait, of which only 29 vessels have the required technical specifications to sail in the current weather conditions, and the rest will have to wait for ice melting. At the same time, most transportable vessels will be carried in the ports of Kavkaz and Temryuk. The exact dates for withdrawal of vessels from ice captivity are not specified, as many factors are still highly dependent on the nature.

According to the officials, the ports were completely prepared for the cold weather and "stocked" with additional ice-breakers, but shipowner usually ignored any warnings about possible problems with transportation of cargoes in the winter, and sent vessels to the sea without the required standard specifications.
